So where is this Swindon place, I thought it was fictional?
Against all probability Swindon is actually a real place (although it does lack the 7 Wonders). It is easily accessible by road (just off the M4) or rail and has been successfully located by guests from as far away as Australia!
The Ffiesta is held at the delightful four star hotel and leisure complex:
Village Hotel, Swindon
Having recently undergone a £4million revamp, the Village Hotel on the outskirts of Swindon, has played host to the Fforde Ffiesta for the last few years. Each bedroom has been newly redecorated and comes complete with an iPod docking station, wireless internet and Sky TV.
The hotel also boasts a health and leisure complex offering its own heated indoor pool, sauna, whirlpool spa, steam room, wellness and aerobic studio, free weights area and more. Within the hotel you’ll find a Starbucks, the Victory pub and kitchen and Buca di Beppo, serving classic Italian food.
The hotel is located at the Shaw Ridge Leisure Park and within a five minute walk of the hotel, you’ll find a cinema, bowling alley, a choice of restaurants offering international cuisine, an ice rink and a small shopping centre.
And as though that wasn’t enough, just across the car park is a statue of Lola Vavoom (ok, it’s Diana Dors to the rest of the world).
